Introducing Keith Richard, CCP

Keith has been a C.C.P. - Certified Credit Professional since 2001. Over the years, he has served in various capacities on the Credit Institute of Canada’s provincial and national board of directors. At present, Keith is the Chair of the National Education Committee (NEC), a committee composed of several National Directors and accountable for the education component of the Institute.

Under Keith’s leadership, the NEC has made tremendous strides in advancing the credit education offered by the CIC. Here are just a few of the committee’s more recent initiatives: The CCP and Credit Basics courses were updated in terms of content and technology; PDP reporting was brought on line; and new educational partners were sought and assessed. At committee meetings, Keith continues to challenge members to seek new and innovative ways of improving Canadian credit education.

Keith has been in the credit industry for approx. 20 years. Currently, he is employed as a Manager, Credit at the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC) in Alberta. In this role, he is responsible for approval of credit (both commercial and consumer) outside of a credit union’s discretionary limit, a loan transaction review program ("auditing" and/or reviewing underwriting of loans, mortgages, etc…), oversees an onsite verification program and provides mentoring to credit union lenders across the Province. Prior to employment with CUDGC, he held various positions at the Assiniboine Credit Union, ending his employment there as a Business Account Manager, successfully managing a loan portfolio of approx. $100MM.

Outside of the office, Keith enjoys reading, running and golfing. On most days, if he isn’t reading, you can find him on the golf course with his wife and/or friends. And if he’s lucky, a couple of weeks out of each winter, you will find him basking in the sun somewhere hot. And no matter what the temperature may be, you will always find him on a golf course with a nice cold "water" in hand. Cheers! Salud! Santé! Prost! À la vôtre!
