Professional Development

http://www.creditedu.org/memb_profDev2.html

Retaining one's status as an FCI designate takes Dedication, Discipline and Drive. The premise is for the designate members to keep up with changes in and to the credit field. New and improved ways of handling credit often occur through changes in legislation, or information technologies, or experience.

Professional Development points are earned by updating oneself in a variety of categories. By sharing your knowledge either as a student or as an instructor, you can satisfy the necessary requirements to retain the designation that you've worked hard to achieve.

"The National Education Committee and the National Board of Directors encourage you to maintain your leadership role in the credit profession through ongoing participation in professional development."

Southwestern Ontario Chapter - Historical Review

"The members of the Southwestern Ontario Chapter of the Credit Institute of Canada are proud to be a part of the 75th anniversary celebrations

We are a relatively small but vibrant Chapter that was formed in 1976. Prior to 1976, all members in our region were affiliated with the Conestoga Chapter. It was decided at that time that there was a strong need for local representation in a more central southwestern area of Ontario. Once the local Chapter was formed, the members voted to name our group The Huron & Erie St. Clair Chapter after the lakes that surround the area.

Our first elected President was Mr. Frank McKee, FCI. Unfortunately, prior to the first dinner meeting Frank was not able to begin his first term as he had accepted a new job with the Greb Company in Kitchener. During the fall of 1976, Mr. Barry Anderson, FCI became President and presided over the first dinner meeting held at the National Traveler Hotel in London, Ontario. Our first guest speaker was Bob Leroy from Howden Electric. This marked the beginning of our Chapter.

A feather was added to our cap in the 1996-1997 year, when the Southwestern Ontario Chapter won the most coveted award - The Quaker Oats Trophy. National presents this prestigious trophy to recognize excellence and to promote competition amongst the Chapters across Canada.

A quarter of a century after our humble beginnings,, our Chapter presently enjoys its largest membership ever. Our name in the local business community is well recognized. We are enjoying the benefits of the publicity created through our monthly dinner meetings, seminars, and local advertising. Our social activities include a graduation night, an annual golf tournament, and our annual social night.

With exciting changes taking place in the Institute all levels, we believe the best is yet to come. A new enthusiasm is helping to increase our student enrollment while a nationwide advertising program is creating a favourable climate to assist our future growth.

During this 75th anniversary celebration, we proudly present the Presidents and National Directors who devoted their time and effort to grow our Chapter since its inception."
